Shiver

Things are different indoors when you know it’s cold out.

It’s as though the frost reaches through your windows and if it’s unable to give you a chill, it penetrates your mind. Takes root in your subconscious and becomes an underlying layer in all your thoughts. You feel a deep cold despite the warmth.

You don’t need it, but you keep a sweater on anyway. When your sweet tooth acts up, your hands wander to the hot cocoa mix in the cabinet before you even realize it. It’s because of the cold in your heart. It can’t freeze your flesh so it goes for your soul. There’s not much you can do about it. Huddle under blankets and do something that gives comfort. Do whatever you can to fight that cold within.

Lest you succumb to the ice.
