I learned from the fists of men
That true women had nothing
Between their legs
I learned that when women bleed
It was from life bearing wombs
Not from slits on their thighs
I learned that the anger they gave me
Was so I would not spread my sickness
And force questions on others
I learned through swollen eyes
And bruised ribs
That I am a man like them
I learned.
